Through the generosity of its membership, The Health Foundation contributes to a healthier community by funding special projects and programs in the county. Since its inception in 1991, the organization has been involved in projects both large and small. West Park, its flagship program, is a centrally located medical park less than a quarter mile from the hospital. It is now home to a myriad of services, including doctors offices, a public health dental clinic, the Hospice program, a Wellness Center, and much more. The group was instrumental in funding the dental clinic and a mobile dental unit. Other projects include helping to fund a Kidney Dialysis Center, the New Beginnings Birthing Center at Wilkes Regional Medical Center, and the on-site emergency helicopter-landing pad.
