Each year, Wilkes County hosts four major events - the MerleFest in the Spring, the Art & Heritage Festival in the
Summer, and the Apple Festival and Wilkes Agricultural Fair in the Fall. Click on the links below for more information.
During the last weekend in April, Wilkes County rings with the sound of music from MerleFest, held on the grounds of the Wilkes Community College. If you like music, and particularly, bluegrass, country, celtic and cajun, this is the place for you. The event is for the whole family with live music and workshops from morning to night. Come drench yourself in the heritage of American music and enjoy the hospitality of Wilkes County.

Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro presents the annual Shine to Wine festival, celebrating the evolution from our moonshine history to our current notoriety of a flourishing wine-making industry! Vineyards and wineries from all over the region showcase hundreds of wines, along with musical entertainment, and a culinary chef competition!

North Carolina's premier rock concert, featuring up to 20 of the best rock bands in the region!
This isn't your average high-school battle. This competition is by invitation only, which means that we hand-selected the best bands to perform in the region. You're not going to hear a bunch of tin cans banging around; the bands you see on our stage are likely to be on the fast track to fame!
The event is appropriate for all ages, and is alcohol free. The show starts at 4pm, and the Pro bands go on stage at 6pm. Everything will wrap up around 11pm, so get ready for a full evening of rock!

Fall is in the air and so is the smell of freshly baked fried apple pies. On the first Saturday of October, join us for the annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, sponsored by the Brushy Mtn. Ruritan Club. It's held annually in downtown North Wilkesboro featuring crafts, food, entertainment and Brushy Mountain apples.

Musical hosts - The Kruger Brothers are a Switzerland-based musical group, comprised of banjo player, Jens Kruger, guitarist Uwe Kruger, and bassist, Joel Landsberg. The festival name was borrowed from the song, Carolina in the Fall, written and performed by The Kruger Brothers. A family atmosphere - music festival! Enjoy workshops, children's area ''Petey's Place,'' music & craft vendors, food vendors.

Thanks to the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club, Wilkes County has an exceptional annual Agricultural Fair, where all members of the family can have a fun and educational outing. The Rotary Club works very closely with the Wilkes County Cooperative Extension Service to provide a variety of displays and exhibitions, which show the county's many natural resources. As a visitor, you will see varieties of livestock, canned goods, hand crafted quilts, and much more. Ribbons and cash awards will be presented to winners in these categories. Be sure to visit the Exhibition Hall and livestock area. The Rotary Club always provides a wide array of amusement park rides and games for all ages.
