{ Wilkes Community College }

Wilkes Community College (WCC) is a public, two-year, “open door” institution committed to providing comprehensive education and educational support for people in Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany counties and the surrounding region. As a member of the North Carolina Community College System, WCC provides quality education, training and re-training for the workforce. The curriculum includes basic skills education, occupational, technical and pre-baccalaureate programs. Support for economic development is provided through services to business and industry, both public and private, and through a variety of services and cultural activities that improve the quality of life.

{ Wilkes County Schools }

Wilkes County School System consists of 22 schools, serving more than 10,000 students. Facilities include 13 elementary schools, four new middle schools (completed in fall 2002), four high schools, currently under 38 million dollar renovations, and a career education center. All schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.Wilkes County schools are committed to excellence in teaching and to the belief that all students can learn. Our goal is to promote high expectations for student success through a partnership of school, home and community.
